How I Ski

I ski in a seated postion. To do this I use a monoski, which is a type of sitski with just one ski attached. The ski I use is just a normal ski (specific sitski skis are not needed) with a very strong binding on it to ensure that the monoski frame does not separate from the ski whilst I am using it. I sit in the bucket section of the rig and I am strapped in by straps across my feet, thighs, hips and chest. The ski shown attached to my rig in the photos is not the ski I ski on, it is just an old ski that I use for training in my house (I can practise balancing and pushing myself up to strengthen my arms and core).

Used to both turn and push along flat ground are my outriggers. They are like crutches with skis on the bottom. To balance and turn in my monoski, I use my outriggers as a way of steering with the outriggers in their ski position. To push myself along or for balancing whilst still, I can pull a cord on my outriggers to make them flip up into a crutch position, allowing them to function more like conventional ski poles.
