About Me

I am Amber, I am 18, and I love to ski.

I also have Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia, a rare neurogenetic condition that affects my control over the muscles mainly in my legs and trunk. I now have no voluntary movement from the mid-chest down, so I am unable to stand or walk, and use a wheelchair to get around.

Due to my HSP I have lost many abilities - but the ability to ski is not one of them. I have been sit-skiing for just over three years and I am now a member of the development squad of the British ParaSnowsport Team (formerly the British Disabled Ski Team).

I currently compete in the LW 12.1 class which is for athletes with a disability that has a severe impact on my leg function, and a mild effect on trunk and hip stability, however this is likely to change when I get reclassified in November, as my condition has significantly deteriorated from when I was first assessed two years ago. I ski sitting in a monoski in the women's category.

My ambition is to race and have a lot of fun, this is how I'm going to do it...
